Our findings from over a decade of investigation into spontaneous cases will hopefully emerge formally at a future conference, but for the casual enquirer who is looking for some points to ponder:

  1. Paranormal investigators need good 'people skills' to be effective, rather than raw courage, because it is unlikely that you will experience anything paranormal when you visit, but there will be a story to be analysed.
  2. Working in mixed-sex pairs seems to be a safer and more effective way to conduct interviews and site visits.
  3. If those seeking intervention can keep a log of ostensible paranormal activity and reflect on 'triggers' for phenomena, then that helps pattern recognition, record-keeping and it encourages a self-help positive attitude.
  4. After-the-event record-keeping the paranormal is not glamorous, but future study depends upon such evidence.
  5. Hauntings seem to be correlated with environmental man-made changes: excavations, construction work, renovation, re-decoration and changes of residency.
  6. Hauntings also seem to correlate positively with underground routes for water and major electrical supplies.
  7. Anomalous experiences seem to correlate positively with dowsing patterns or 'ley lines,' as well as sites of ritual religious practices.
